Monterey, CA

Summer’s always a good time to travel, but since that’s not wise this year, summer will have to be a good time to write about traveling and share some of my photos. I wrote a fun series of travel posts a couple of summers ago, so be sure to check them out. You can find them by using the drop-down Categories menu and selecting “Travel.” From a desktop or tablet, you’ll find the drop-down to the right, under my Instagram photos, and from a cell phone, you’ll find it if you scroll all the way down.

For those of you who don’t know it yet, I really love to travel. Near or far, it doesn’t matter; I like to get up and go. I’m all about having adventures, either through long distance travels or short road-trips. I had hoped to take my children to Disneyland for their first time this summer, but that obviously isn’t going to happen. Maybe next year. My husband and I were also in the early planning stages to go to Brazil with the family of one of my former students. That’s definitely not happening, either.

One of my most absolute favorite places to go on a road-trip is to Monterey, California. There’s beautiful weather, plenty of restaurants with delicious food, gnarled yet picturesque cypress trees, lots of trails for romantic strolls and sight-seeing, fun things to see and do, clean sandy beaches, a world-class aquarium, a number of historical buildings… It’s a truly lovely coastal town.

We go there at least two times a year, usually once for our anniversary in May, and then again over the summer with the kids, or just the two of us in December for my birthday. My husband and I are actually thinking about retiring there when we’re at that stage of life. Over the years, I’ve taken nearly 500 photos of some of my adventures in Monterey and I’m sharing some of the better ones hereΒ in this nifty slideshow below for all of you. Don’t worry, there are only seventeen photos. Hope you like them!
