A Mother’s Day Tribute

Because tomorrow is Mother’s Day, this is a tribute to all of you fellow mommies out there…

As the headline of my blog states, being a mom takes moxie. It’s one of the most challenging and rewarding things you will ever do. Some days you laugh. Some days you cry. Some days you feel like you’ve got the whole motherhood thing figured out. Some days you feel like hiding in the closet just to get a break from it all.

My daughter is the light of my life. I love her so much! I live for her. Being a mother these past two and a half years has been such an incredible experience. A beautiful harmony of both good and bad, easy and difficult, uplifting and frustrating. It’s poetry in motion. I am so proud to be her mommy and yet I worry that I am not doing things “right.” When she reaches out to hold my hand in her tiny one, my heart swells with love. She makes me smile with admiration whenever she says something clever or funny. I look at her and can’t help but be amazed at her beauty, intelligence, curiosity, and sweet disposition. I feel such tremendous joy that she’s my daughter. The love I have for her is so pure, uplifting, and wondrous. I feel so blessed to be called Mama.

So if you are a mommy, new or old, hold your head up high. Wear that spit-up like a badge of honor. Praise yourself for doing an amazing thing of raising a human, even if you can’t keep a simple house-plant alive. Celebrate your victories and learn from your defeats. Cherish your children. Armed with diapers and sippy cups, you are a super hero. Β Find your moxie. Love yourself.

Happy Mother’s Day!
