Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a book worm and a self-proclaimed word nerd. When I was a kid, “Reading Rainbow” was probably one of my favorite shows. I’ve always made good use of the library, in person and online. I just recently started a Goodreads account so that I can connect with other avid readers and broaden my literary horizons even further. I love reading. Something magical happens between the pages of a book and my soul.
I want my daughter, Emily, to have this same love and joy for books and reading. For one of my baby showers, I requested that guests sign and give Emily a book, rather than a greeting card. The collection in her book shelves is already quite impressive. I also stock her diaper bag with a rotating supply of books so she always has something to read when we’re on-the-go.
So imagine my delight when I learned that I could sign her up for something called a “Baby” library card from our local library! She was only 13 months old at the time, which I figured wasn’t too young for her to get her own card. Below are some photos of that milestone, plus some more from other occasions. For example, one day I thought she was way too quiet, and when I went to check on her, I found her “reading” one of her books. Made this mommy SO proud!
(I apologize for the poor quality of some of the photos. I had to quickly grab my cell phone and use the camera on it before she got distracted and stopped reading.)
